Brief game recap , 35-7 49ers
On the First drive Bucs safety Keanu Neal was flagged for roughing passer on a nice sack but afterwards San Fran marched the field and scored 6 with Deebo Samuel on the ground whilst afterwards the bucs missed an ill advised field goal from 55 with Succop missing well short and well right , the niners scored again with Brock Purdy juking Devin White for a touchdown run to put ‘em up 14-0 , then came the drive that ruined it all , already struggling LT Donovan Smith has had his penalty problems this season and last night was no different , erasing a 66 yard TD reception from Mike Evans , after this the bucs failed to convert , then after the niners turned the heat up with CMC getting a touchdown through the air and Brandon Aiyuk getting one making it 28-0 at the end of half number 1. The game was over from that point with McCaffrey getting touchdown number 2 for the day in the 2nd half and Russel Gage putting the bucs on the board , the game was appalling and embarrassing for everyone involved from a Tampa standpoint.
Let’s look ahead whilst also looking back
What to take from this going forward
The bucs are awful when it comes to discipline - being the 13th most penalised team this year but that doesn't sound too bad I hear you say , they have 76 penalties this season with 17 offensive holding calls leading the way but top of this category by a longshot is struggling LT Donovan Smith with a whopping 11 holding calls. This is a huge worry for the Bucs who at this crucial point know these penalties could end up being very costly.
Another thing that was easily spotted last night is how bad the bucs are on crucial 3rd and 4th down snaps both on offense and defence, defensively the 3rd&1 comes to mind where the bucs gave up another defensive penalty which gave SF a new set of downs which they scored from. Another poor defensive 3rd down snap last night was the 3rd&5 from the 27 where purdy had a nice pass to CMC for a 27 yard receiving TD , busted coverage by S Logan Ryan.
Offensively it was atrocious going 4 /16 on 3rd down and just as many with 4/7 on 4th down.
Brady had what one could call a "nightmare game" underthrowing on 4th&1 in the endzone , throwing 2 INT and completing 34 of 55 passes for 253 yards.
Rachaad White lost a fumble last night but at that point the game was over.
Bad things came from this game as Vita Vea ,Jamel Dean and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka all left the game with injuries and Todd Bowles had no updates.
Things look very bleak in tampa bay after this defeat and one could wonder how such a woeful unit sit atop the NFC South after13 games , well Bucs TE Cameron Brate doesn't know either saying "We're in first place right now. It's hard to grasp that, really, because the way we're playing we don't feel like we're playing like a first placed team."
Going forward the bucs have 4 weeks to figure something out before playoff season , there are a lot of things to take from this but most importantly , the bucs need improvement all over if they want to have a chance at the Super Bowl.
ANALYSIS
Honestly as crazy as it sounds TB are not dead yet , strange things happen in the playoffs but strange goes hand in hand with Tom Brady. My personal thoughts : terrible game on both sides but all hope is not lost as long as TB can win the woeful NFC South.
