There’s a lot of speculation and uncertainty about the bucs 2023 roster and in all honesty I can see why. (Part 1/2)
1-
The bucs don’t have any idea of who the hell their offensive coordinator will be (they’ve interviewed about 10 candidates and have been searching for 4 weeks) and heading into the draft , you really want to know where your team is headed so you can make picks for that system but it looks like Tampa will not have a coordinator for at least a few more weeks after former Georgia OC and Bucs Oc Todd monken was appointed by Baltimore and the other primary target, Bengals QB coach Dan Pitcher , stayed put in CIN for at least one more year.
2-
The bucs have so many free agents yet the cap is still sky high . Yeah , I agree this one is worrying, Tampa are about 30 million dollars over the 2023 cap and with some of their most key players becoming free agents (top 10)
• ILB lavonte David , David stated he wanted to retire a buc but knows the cap situation and business side.
•CB Jamel Dean , would be a great player to keep as I think he had a good year despite the teams struggles
•OLB Anthony Nelson , good young player who’d be worth keeping but the money he might want doesn’t help.
• S Mike Edwards, been a great player for Tampa in my opinion and he might stick around and save TB drafting a S
• S Logan Ryan , good free agency pickup but he’s ageing and I think Tampa can do better , cheaper.
• S Keanu Neal , keep him if at a reasonable price but his injury problems don’t help.
• OLB Carl Nassib , really like the guy but I think the bucs keep Nelson and let him walk
• DL Akiem Hicks , older player but no less effective however he will want to play for a contender.
• DE Will Gholston , I’d keep him around he knows the team and is a longtime buc , good to have in the locker room
• WR Scotty Miller , he’s a good slot receiver but I think a rookie can do much better.
