Tom Brady announces his retirement , thank you for the Super Bowl.

Buccaneers quarterback and NFL legend Tom Brady has officially confirmed he is now staying retired. A sad day for nfl fans but also a day of gratitude should be taken by buccaneers fans for how Tom brought a Super Bowl home in the most unlikely season. 

The Super Bowl season 

Tom Brady aged 42 was a free agent for the first time ever in 2020 , people said he was finished or past it but despite all that , Tampa bay took a chance (it payed off).

Keep in mind , prior to this season the bucs had not reached the playoffs since 2007 and hadn’t had a winning season since 2016.

Tom Brady found himself in a very unfamiliar situation, getting to know a new HC and whole new staff room, also the fact he moved half way across the country. The season began with a bad loss to the saints where Brady looked dire , pundits and media personnel wrote him and the bucs off in week 1 but the goat always found a way. Brady rallied the bucs and they picked up 3 straight wins before faltering against Chicago in a one point affair, again people called for Tom to retire but he was fired up now by media outlets , TB went on to win 3 straight again before falling to the saints , after this game brady said “we have a lot of work cut out for us” and it seemed to click with the bucs who won 5 of their next 7 and managed to sneak a wildcard spot. 

In the playoffs the bucs did not look good against Washington , they barely escaped in an 8 point game but quality meant nothing now , it was all about the wins.

The divisional match was a scary one for bucs players and fans alike , the saints had blown them out in both regular season matchups prior to this and if the bucs wanted to win they knew the saints  would not go out easy in this one . The bucs looked decent in this one but in the 4th quarter decent turned to great and the bucs managed to pile on 10 points and ultimately seal the first win against the saints since Brady’s arrival in probably the most important game. 30-20 

The legendary lambeau field would host one of the best quarterback face offs in the history of sports , Aaron Rodger’s versus Tom Brady. It sold itself with them players alone , but also it made a lot of pundits realise just how unwise it is to count Tom Brady out , they had written him off in week 1 yet here he was doing what he done best, winning. 

Brady struck first hitting his favourite bucs target , Mike evans , for 6. This game produced the best play by the bucs all year as they put up 31 points over Aaron Rodgers and the packers 26 . Also  one of Brady’s most iconic bucs plays occurred too where he found scotty miller on a deep shot just before HT . “Brady goes for the deep shot HES GOT A TOUCHDOWN , Scotty Miller”

By now you’ve probably realised , Tom Brady had a phenomenal year again making the 10th Super Bowl of his career and looking to win his 7th . Brady finished the regular season with a monster 4633 passing yards , 40 touchdowns and only 12 interceptions.

There was a lot of excitement about this game since it was the first time a host team would play in the superbowl but also , it was deemed the “passing of the torch” by the media who again , sillily wrote off Tampa bay and predicted pat mahomes and the chiefs would win and Brady would pass the torch of the goat to mahomes. 

But as we know , this was not the case , Tom Brady hooked up his old patriot pal Rob Gronkowski for a touchdown and honestly after it , the bucs never looked in trouble as they cruised for an easy 31-9  victory against a deflated chiefs team who never really got going. 

The 11-5 buccaneers , won the 2020 Super Bowl

This unlikely scenario of Tom Brady being a buccaneer , lead to one of the most unexpected outcomes in league history . The bucs were written off multiple times , Brady was told he should’ve  retired and was deemed finished but despite all that , the goat found a way. 

“Who would’ve guessed that at the end of the Super Bowl , the ball would’ve been in the hands of Tom Brady” 

“I don’t know why we ever think it won’t”

The last 3 seasons are something many bucs fans would’ve only dreamt of before but Tom Brady found way to make it one of the greatest times to support this great franchise, thank you TAMPA Tommy.
